NOMINATION FORM: BEST PRACTICES AWARD FOR MAYORS
The Distinguished Public Service Award Recognition Package
In keeping with the prestige of the Award for Distinguished Public Service, each honoree will receive a distinctive recognition package that reflects the honor, tradition, and values of the Americas Conference of Mayors (ACM) and the Americas Conference of City Councilors (ACCC).
The presentation of the recognition package takes place during the Annual Summit, Conference and Expo of the Americas Conference of Mayors, where leaders from across the region gather to celebrate excellence in public service.
The recognition package includes:

Custom Crystal Award
A sculpted crystal piece—crafted in the shape of a city skyline and the map of the Americas—engraved with the ACM and ACCC emblems, the award title, the honoree’s name, and the year of recognition. This elegant piece is designed to be a lasting display in the recipient’s office or public space.

Framed Certificate of Distinguished Public Service
A formal, bilingual certificate (English and Spanish) printed on premium archival paper and hand-signed by the Presidents of both the ACM and ACCC. The certificate includes embossed gold seals and is presented in a custom wood frame with an engraved nameplate, symbolizing the highest level of the Americas Conference of Mayors recognition.

Commemorative Medal
A finely crafted medallion in antique gold finish, bearing the official crests of the ACM and ACCC. The medal is presented in a velvet-lined display case and serves as a personal keepsake of this historic honor.
History
First introduced in 2021 by the ACM and ACCC, the Distinguished Public Service Award was created to honor state and federal leadership at the highest level and encourage a culture of excellence in public service.
Nomination and Selection Process
Each year, three individuals are selected for this honor. Nominations may be submitted by the Governing Board, the Executive Board and the Philantropic Council of the ACM.
Selection criteria include:
- Demonstrated excellence in public service
- Innovative approaches to government innovations and challenges
- Measurable, positive impact at the state or federal levels
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and transparency
The special committee appointed by the Governing Board reviews all nominations and selects the recipients with the advice of the President and CEO of the Executive Board, along with the representatives of the Philantropic Council.

Presentation of the award
The Distinguished Public Service Award will be presented at the Annual Summit, Conference and Expo 2027 of the Americas Conference of Mayors, taking place on March 11–13, 2027.
